Allow torch on belt/backpack
Going into a cave and fighting is very hard without a torch, but you can't have both a weapon and a torch in your hands. Either move the torch to the shield hand or allow it to be put on your belt or backpack.

Andrew BossThis is ok, but if your in a world with magic and gods, don't you think using magic as a light or fire or water would be kinda like a LifeStyle Magic needed. I mean you can fly for God Sake why not have other magic tree's.

eluxoI would also actually like to see a "light spell" rather than a torch. For me it makes perfect sense.
There are several options for this, I guess. While playing the game, I have felt reminded to valheim for several reasons (hope you don't blame me on this). There they have a an item working as a light. So I see several options that might be interesting while extending the lore of the games:
- perks on weapons and/or equipment that allow you to light up the environment
- a specific clothing item you can obtain that emits light
- a skill/spell that brings you a spark of light
- a passive ability
Perks have on items/weapons might have the advantage that they can block slots for other perks, so you have to decide if you can afford it. This would be even interesting for group play. -

Dave MergedA craftable lantern to attach to the player's side , such as something crafted with cotton, boar fat, and bronze ingots, would help to add a feeling of advancement to the game's provided lighting options which currently only includes a torch.
Later options could be made of, I dont know, Amber, Ambrosia Ingots, and Plumes or something (to make a magic lantern that would last longer and be brighter!), but bare minimum feels like we should get more personal lighting options. -

KingshrubbzTorch on backpack is ideal. You don't want to hold it where you can see it, the light will just make you blind. Helping everyone but you have an illuminating fun time.
If dungeoning solo, you'll use a long enough stick to rest it on your shoulder and have the light back and up, behind and overhead. Maximum illumination without blinding you. If you have a backpack you can strap it to, even better. -

RyFtheGameReaveRAlternative light source proposal:
Something in the vein of a wisp summon following you could be nice, or auto-wisp spawn when "too dark" as a power cool be interesting. Color could be customizable depending on what altars you have defiled. We already know of pale/blue and purple wisps in-game :D
If craftable the source of the wisp could be consumable - 5 min wisp companion, with Ambrosia as base crafting ingredient. Instead of a summon it could be a Wisp "pheromone" or a simple "charm" that would require you to get to a wisp in the world and use the consumable near them to make the wisp follow you for X min. A better version of the craft (rarer crafting comp) could increase charm duration, or another variant could increase the light radius, balanced with a shorter charm duration. -

Bork MergedNight time in certain areas is very dark and unsafe, lol. A wast lamp would allow us to use our shield while in combat.

A KirtonI prefer the idea of being able to equip the torch in the offhand at night, perhaps even allowing you to use it as an additional weapon. This would be in keeping with the Ancient Greek setting and not overdo the magic side of things. Given the player character seems to be in opposition to the gods, too much magic might not make sense depending on how this is implemented.

Traega Monday MergedA way to light your environment without a torch equipped in main hand, for purposes of mining or harvesting at night. Hip-lantern, wisp familiar, etc...
