Cook more than one piece of meat at a time
The cooking pit clearly has room for more than one piece of meat! Am Chef. I wanna cook more meats. Hanging them up is fine. It was also common to use a nice flat rock, get that good and hot just like a grill plate.
Putting one piece of meat on a string. Waiting. Taking. Rinse and repeat is not a particularly fun nor satisfying gameplay loop. Happy to wait longer if the yield is better. Let me make a bigger cooking space, hang up all my meat. Let it cook. Come back and collect it all at once.
Either the simple hanging meat over a fire you have. Or on a searing hot slab of rock. Or build a smoker. Quite easy to do with just basic wood/thatch/clay.
Cooking can be fun! Or at least not tedious. Not being a chore would be a good start.
Side note. Its not so easy to click on the placement zone with the add wood to fire zone being as big as it is. Maybe shift the hanging placement over the side of the fire. Where you would actually have it. Directly over the open flame is far too hot!

RyFtheGameReaveRI'd suggest having higher tier options (wood, stone...) to build cooking stations allowing more simultaneous cooking meats - or have stacked versions like other crafting stations ( Tanning, grinder...) in higher tiers.

JasThe cooking spit is fine with one. However, give us an oven that allows stacks. ...and not this 10 stack mess. 100 stack limit is a good start for any crafting. If it starts out low, like 1 on the spit, then upgrades can be implemented until 100 stacks are reached.

LouPerhaps adding different teir cooking spits.
The higher the teir the larger the animal you can cook at once.
Starting smaller with chicken and hare, then up to wolves and boars, then deer, etc. -

AlexMaybe introduce an oven that has multiple input slots. This could also expand cooking recipes to provide buffs. This would also solve the problem of the hit box for adding meat to the campfire being almost impossible to actually hit.
